Jake Hulse

Jake Hulse lives in Massachusetts and went to college in Boston. He placed silver in the Page International Screenwriting Awards, was a finalist in Screencraft’s Feature Competition, a semifinalist in Austin’s Screenplay Competition, and a quarterfinalist in the Nicholl Fellowship. His first independent feature (writer/director) premiered at Dances with Films in LA and is available on most streaming platforms.

Jake has never lived anywhere for longer than five years, so in order to fit in, he developed a dark, sarcastic sense of humor - which is probably why he writes dramedies and action/thrillers about people who struggle to find their place in the world. Jake’s characters feel genuine because they’re based on his personal experiences in law enforcement, as a whitewater raft guide, as a high school history teacher, and most recently watching his four-year-old son kick the shit out of cancer (three years of remission!). Jake’s stories seek to explore those issues we should be talking about as a society, but are too afraid to.
